Easter is a sacred time for Christians. During Easter, we celebrate the glorious resurrection of Jesus Christ. We rejoice that He is risen from the dead and we praise Him for the hope He has given us.

Sometimes we need to have our hearts freshly stirred to appreciate the beauty of Easter. In light of that, we've compiled 12 of the most powerful Easter quotes to stir your heart and move you to worship.

Powerful, Life-Changing Easter Quotes

  1. “Jesus Christ our Lord surrendered in order that He might win; He destroyed His enemies by dying for them and conquered death by allowing death to conquer Him.” - A.W. Tozer

This quote reminds us that surrendering does not always equal defeat. In fact, in the kingdom surrendering is the first step on the path to victory. Jesus willingly surrendered himself to be crucified, but through his death and resurrection, he ultimately defeated sin and death for all mankind.

In Romans 6:6-7, it says "For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin— because anyone who has died has been set free from sin."

Through Christ's and death on the cross and resurrection, we are able to die to our old selves and be set free from the bondage of sin. This surrendering to Christ leads us to a new life filled with victory over sin.

  1. “Easter was when Hope in person surprised the whole world by coming forward from the future into the present.” - N.T. Wright

When Jesus rose from the dead, he brought the future into the here and now. When Christ returns, we too will receive new bodies that cannot be touched by death. The resurrection of Jesus gives us hope for our own future, knowing that death does not have the final say.

In 1 Corinthians 15:20-22 it says "But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive."

Through the resurrection of Jesus, he has paved the way for us to experience eternal life with him. This hope gives us strength and courage to face any trials or struggles in our present lives.

  1. “What kind of life would we have if Jesus hadn’t risen from the dead?” - Kelsey Bryant

If Jesus had not risen from the dead, we would still be dead in our sins and under the judgment of God for those sins. We would not have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. We would not have God as our Father. Easter reminds us of the life that we have because of Christ's resurrection. It is a life filled with grace, mercy, and love from our Savior.

In Romans 6:8-11 it says "Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus."

Because of Jesus' resurrection, we can now live a new life with him. His life flows into us and out of us like a spring of living water. We are united to Christ and because He lives, we live.

  1. “When Jesus rose from the dead, He didn't cheat death; He beat it fair and square.” - Cheryl Ford

Until Jesus, death always won. No one could escape death. No one could beat it. But through Jesus' resurrection, he conquered death once and for all. He did it for us, so that we may have eternal life with him.

In 1 Corinthians 15:55-57 it says "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Because of Jesus' victory over death, we no longer have to fear it. We can face death with confidence and hope because we know that through him, we have eternal life.

Inspirational Easter Quotes

  1. “The entire plan for the future has its key in the resurrection.” - Billy Graham

Because Jesus rose from the dead, our future is certain. We know how everything ends. The risen Jesus will return one day to establish his kingdom and make all things new. This is the hope that we have as Christians - a hope that is sure and secure because of Jesus' resurrection.

In Revelation 21:3, it says "And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them.

This is the future that we have to look forward to because of Jesus' resurrection - a future where there is no more death, pain, or suffering. A future with God dwelling among us.

  1. "Today we celebrate the gift of victory over every fall we have ever experienced." - Jeffrey R. Holland

All of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We have all experienced the shame that comes with falling into sin. But because of Jesus' resurrection, we have been given victory over our sin and death. We can be forgiven and made new in him. Our sins don't have the final say. Jesus does.

In Romans 6:4 it says "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life."

In Christ, we can have new life - a life no longer bound by sin but filled with the love and grace of God. In Christ we will have the final victory. Not our sin. Not death. Through Jesus, we will ultimately triumph.

  1. “I believe in Christ, like I believe in the sun — not because I can see it, but by it I can see everything else.” - C.S. Lewis

The resurrection of Jesus makes all things clear. It is the ultimate proof of his divinity and power. Just as the sun shines light on everything around us, Jesus' resurrection shines light on all truth and gives us understanding of who he truly is - our Savior and Redeemer.

In John 11:25-26, Jesus says "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Jesus is the resurrection and the life. He offers us eternal life through his death and resurrection - a promise that we can hold onto and see everything else by.

  1. "God proved His love on the Cross. When Christ hung, and bled, and died, it was God saying to the world, ’I love you.’"  - Billy Graham

The cross and the resurrection are the ultimate display of God's love for us. He sent his son to die for our sins so that we may have eternal life with him. It is through this act of sacrificial love that we can truly understand and experience the depth of God's love for us.

In 1 John 4:9-10 it says "This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins."

God's love for us was displayed on the cross through Jesus' death and resurrection. It is a love that surpasses all understanding and is the foundation of our faith.

  1. "The resurrection gives my life meaning and direction and the opportunity to start over no matter what my circumstances." - Robert Flatt

Jesus' resurrection not only brings us eternal life, but it also gives us hope for our present lives. No matter what challenges or struggles we may face, we can find strength and direction in the resurrection of Jesus. It is a reminder that through him, we have the power to overcome anything.

In Romans 8:11 it says "And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you."

The same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives within us, giving us hope and strength to face any situation. The resurrection is not just a past event, but it continues to have an impact on our lives today.

Hopeful Easter Quotes

  1. "The resurrection is at the core of our beliefs as Christians. Without it, our faith is meaningless." - Joseph B. Wirthlin

There is no Christianity without the resurrection of Christ. It is the cornerstone of our faith, proving that Jesus is indeed the Son of God and that he has power over death. Without the resurrection, there would be no hope for salvation and eternal life. We could not be confident that our sins were forgiven.

In 1 Corinthians 15:17-19 it says "And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied."

The resurrection is what sets Christianity apart from all other religions. It is the ultimate display of God's love and power, and it is the foundation of our belief.

  1. "Christ the Lord is risen today, sons of men and angels say. Raise your joys and triumphs high; sing, ye heavens and Earth reply." - Charles Wesley

Just as the angels sang at the birth of Jesus, so we sing at the resurrection of Jesus. Jesus is our joy. Jesus is our triumph. In Him, we have every reason to sing. As we celebrate the resurrection, we join with all creation in declaring that Jesus is alive and reigns forevermore.

In Revelation 5:12 it says, "In a loud voice they were saying: 'Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!'”

When the risen Jesus returns, all creation will sing his praise. They will declare that He is worthy of honor and glory and praise. We will join with all creation, lifting joyful song to our risen King.

  1. "Let the resurrection joy lift us from loneliness and weakness and despair to strength and beauty and happiness." - Floyd W. Tomkins

The resurrection brings us hope and joy, not just for the future, but for our present circumstances as well. We no longer have to live in loneliness or despair because we have a risen Savior who gives us strength and beauty. Our happiness is found in Him.

In Isaiah 61:3 it says, "...to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair."

Jesus took our place on the cross and gave us His righteousness. In return, He gives us joy and beauty in exchange for our mourning and despair. This is the power of His resurrection and it is available to us every day.

Breeze is the first ChMS my volunteers have actually embraced. That's because it's so easy to use. The software is very flexible and gives us the opportunity to make decisions based on actual data we've collected and not just hunches or stories we believe to be true.
